United Nations Human Rights Council
Kazakhstan was elected as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council, for the first time, on 12 November 2012 in New York. Kazakhstan’s nomination was supported by 183 out of 193 United Nations Member States, and will serve as a member for a three-year term commencing on 1 January 2013. Kazakhstan has pledged to use its membership of the UN Human Rights Council to strengthen human rights both at home and abroad.
Kazakhstan’s Human Rights Council membership was supported by 183 out of 193 UN Member States and elected to the Council on 12th November in New York. Kazakhstan’s membership in the Council will last from 1 January 2013 until until 2015.
